Thursday was Epcot day, and we had to arrive at the park right at opening because we were having our most important character meal of the week: breakfast at Akershus, WITH PRINCESSES! Kate and Olivia was the most excited about this meal, and I admit I was a little excited about it as well.
We made it through the park and back to Norway where the restaurant is located. As we walked into the door, we met our first princess: Belle! She took a family photo with us, and then we were escorted back to our table. The hot items were served family style and we had scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, biscuits, and cheesy hash browns. There was also a buffet with fruits and breads to choose from. Cinderella was the first princess to come to the table and while she was visiting us it was time for the kids in the restaurant to parade around with the princesses, so Cinderella grabbed Kate and Olivia by the hand and they got to walk around with her.
Next came Snow White, followed by Aurora and finally Ariel. Kate was most excited about Ariel, because she's her (current) favorite princess. We ate and ate until our bellies were more than full, and then we headed out into the park.
Once again, we were there in time to enjoy all the topiaries set up for the Flower and Garden Festival. It seems odd that they aren't there all the time, since they've been part of Epcot on our last two trips. I just love them, and Kate loves to have her picture made with them.
We rode Soarin', which everyone loved but Kate unfortunately. It's weird that the roller coasters don't bother her, but other things that seem less scary to me she doesn't like. We did Living with the Land, then hopped over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. We rode Spaceship Earth, and then it was time to hit up the world showcase and start eating our way around the world.
We stopped in Mexico first to pick up some chips and cheese for Kate (and guacamole for me) and Olivia. As we made our way around, we bought food that looked good here and there. I think Nick ended up with sushi in Japan and eventually fish 'n chips in England. I had a chocolate crepe in France, as well as an ice cream macaroon. Nick had a giant chocolate chip cookie in France and a pretzel in Germany. Kate nibbled on our food as well. Heather and Will had maple bacon cupcake, and Heather also bought some macaroons, Will had an ice cream martini and something in Morocco that I never saw because I was in line to meet Aladdin and Jasmine. The girls also met Eeyore and Tigger, and then Mary Poppins.
We pretty much filled our bellies all day long. That's really what Epcot is best for anyway. We stopped by and met Mickey and Goofy, and the girls played on some of the playgrounds that are set up for the Flower and Garden Festival. But around 7 we decided we were bored and didn't want to stay for Illuminations, so to the monorail we went and headed to Magic Kingdom.
We arrived with 2 hours to spend in the park. What could we accomplish in 2 hours at Magic Kingdom? We met Anna, Elsa, Cinderella, and Rapunzel again because Olivia hadn't met them yet and we also rode the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Barnstormer, Dumbo, It's a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Journey of the Little Mermaid. Talk about a productive two hours! I'm convinced that the last 2 hours of the park are the best time to be there - everyone clears out because they're big wussies who need sleep (You can sleep when you get home!!) so those of us who vacation hard can take full advantage of their weaknesses.
Both of the girls fell asleep on the way back to the hotel though. They were worn out!
Today's Character Count: Cinderella x2, Ariel, Aurora, Snow White, Belle, Rapunzel, Anna, Elsa, Tigger, Eeyore, Mary Poppins,
