Anniversary Weekend, day 2

We decided to spend today at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Groupon had a deal for one of the special exhibits: Fabergé: From A Snowflake To An Iceberg which saved us some money over just buying the regular museum tickets at the door, so we used that and actually enjoyed the special exhibit quite a bit. We checked out a few other sections of the museum before walking down the street a couple of blocks for lunch at Bodega's Taco Shop because the only food the museum offered was McDonald's for some sad reason. Then we went back to the museum to finish checking out all of the rest of the regular exhibits, from gemstones and crystals to dinosaur bones to Egyptian mummies...which were gross and creepy. Overall it was a very good museum. I have to be careful when I take Nick to a museum because he.reads.EVERYTHING. So it takes him forever to make it through an exhibit. I like to read the headlines, so to speak - find out what it is, look at it, move on. If it's something really unique or cool, I will read more about it. Otherwise I am content to just look at the stuff because let's face it - I'm not going to remember what I read anyway.
After the museum we walked around Hermann Park for a little while until it was time for the park gates to close for the day. We summoned an Uber driver to take us to Amy's Ice Cream after that, but before we had ice cream we ate some "real food" at Freebirds. What we consumed at Amy's is most definitely not on our Whole30 plan, but Amy's ice cream is amazing - like seriously the best ice cream I have ever eaten and it's only available in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio - so it was a given that I must eat some.
We grabbed another Uber and headed over to Trader Joe's to pick up a few things we will be needing starting Tuesday for Whole30, and then decided it was time to call it a night. We were back at the apartment by 8:15...and I think we will spend the evening each reading a book and relaxing. Tomorrow we head to the space center. Nick is beyond excited!
