Shoes

Can I tell you how much I love shoes?? Let me tell you some other stuff first.

Saturday night was the Maroon 5 concert that I won tickets to. OMG - it was AWESOME!! They totally rocked and sang everything just like it sounds on the album. I get very annoyed at performers who ruin their songs in concert. I go to hear my favorite song, and I want to sing along, and they go and try to be "creative" and mess up my experience. Not this time though. It was greatness. I got some awesome pictures too, which I was pretty excited about! If you are unfamiliar with Adam Levine, then I suggest you open a new browser window and do a Google image search. Prepare yourself a cold beverage and enjoy the eye candy.

Before the concert, Heather and I went to the mall and Target to get our shop on. I found some super cute brown dress shoes on sale for $17 and then some low-top converse type sneakers on clearance for $6 at Target. They are black with a thin white stripe - so cute! I also found a super cute silky/dressy shirt at Target on clearance for $7.48, which rocks.

Today I went to Target on my lunch break to look for some artificial candles to put in my fake pumpkins tomorrow night (they were out) but I found another pair of super cute leather brown casual shoes on clearance for $5.74!!! I actually brought them up to the office and changed into them. Love them!! It's so much fun to find good deals. I was able to find a couple of Christmas gifts on sale too, so I'd say that although I didn't get what I went for, I did well on my shopping trip.

We didn't get home last night until 12:30. After work I loaded up my pumpkin patterns, the dog, and some clothes for DH to change into when he got home and headed out to my MIL's to carve pumpkins. She and my SIL carved 13 over the weekend, which was all they had purchased so far so I had to go by and get some on my way out there. It takes me about half an hour to get there during the afternoon rush, so I was already cutting in to my carving time. I went to both Wal-Mart and Albertson's in her town and neither one had any pumpkins left. I began to panic a little bit. I had to drive even farther down the road to the next little town and spotted an Albertson's there where I was able to buy 7 kind of sad and rejected pumpkins. They only had 12 left in the whole store and I bought the only ones that didn't have bad spots. They weren't beautiful, but they were mine and I was fine with that.

By the time I got to her house it was after 6 pm. Ugh. I still have to clean out the pumpkins before carving could commence. So I began the icky part and had almost 3 cleaned out by the time DH got there. He changed and ate a quick bite and I sent him on a mission to find more pumpkins. We did 13 last year, DH & I, and I am determined to beat that by at least 1. So off he went with a buddy from next door and they were able to find plenty of pumpkins at a different Wal-Mart. Yay! So I made him buy 10 more. It's a nice, round number. Finally, just after midnight, I finished pumpkin #7 for the evening. We finished 4 out of the 6 Star Wars we are doing, and the 3 Peanuts pumpkins are complete. I'm trying to decide if the remaining pumpkins will be Disney villains or just Halloween/scary. MIL and SIL did Halloween themed ones, so I might stick to characters of some kind.

I have taken pictures of all my carvings so far. I will be posting photos, probably in my Flickr account, when they are all finished but I left my camera at MIL's because we are heading back out there tonight so that carving can commence once again. I have 10 pumpkins to do! But since I don't have to go all over creation on the hunt for pumpkins I should get an earlier start today. That's good.

The sad news is I don't think I'll get to finish the 5 remaining fake pumpkins I have at home. I bought a bunch of them last year on clearance from Michaels because I thought it would be nice to carve just regular Halloween stuff in them so I can sit them in the yard amongst the real pumpkins every year, giving us more pumpkins to display. You can't tell the difference in the dark with them all lit up. It takes a little bit longer to carve them with the Dremel. For one, the Dremel gets hot if I let it run for too long and I have to let it cool some during the process. I have no choice but it use it outside because I don't have a garage to work in and it's far too messy for the house - it would be like cutting wood in your living room - dust everywhere. Since the Dremel is loud I can only do it during decent hours - past 8 or 9 and I would be bothering the neighbors and I don't want to do that.

If everything goes as planned, we should have a total of 35 pumpkins in my MIL's yard tomorrow night. Woo-hoo!
