Comfort thy name is "maternity"

When you are only 5'1" (on a good day) you find it refreshing when a store carries jeans in petite, average, and tall. Jeans are really not hem-friendly. They just never look the same as when the factory does the hem, but sometimes you have to do what it takes. For example, JCPenney carries a pretty cute line of maternity clothes. They carry jeans...but they are all one length.
There's really nothing to be done but take them to Nana and have her hem them.

I have been wearing a few of my regular jeans still, just unbuttoned and held up with a black Bella Band. (What a great accessory!) That's been working fine until the past few days...and something just feels different now. I guess the belly is finally starting to expand a little more than I thought because I was so uncomfortable at work today that as soon as I picked up my newly hemmed maternity jeans from Nana I went into the bathroom at work and changed pants.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
So much better.

Over the weekend I purchased a few pairs of stretchy waist capris to wear this summer. Elastic has become my new friend. For someone who's struggled with weight her whole life, I'm finding it hard not to feel like some sort of epic weight-loss failure every time I discover something else doesn't quite fit the same. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not just getting fat...it's a baby and it's supposed to happen like this. But somedays, when I wake up and feel like I gained 50 pounds in my sleep, it's difficult to talk myself out of wearing my pajama pants to work. I've only gained 3 or 4 pounds...but they sure feel like more at times.

I'm now officially 12 weeks. Woo-hoo...first trimester is almost over!

Oh Brandi, how fun! Sorry the jeans are too long. I always had the opposite problem. Looked like I was wearing high waters! Congrats! 1/3 of the way there.
