Weddings are a lot of fun, but they don't make me think that we missed out on anything. When Nick and I got married, we simply called up our minister and asked him what he was doing on the following Saturday morning. We brought my best friend along and met he and his wife at the church building and he married us. Simple. Intimate. Perfect. No fuss, no money spent, and we still had a reception/shower thrown for us later so everyone got the party they felt they needed.
I do enjoy a good wedding though. Sometimes they're pretty standard, and sometimes they are cool with extraordinary touches. Such is the case with Whitney and Drew's wedding. It was outdoors (yes, OUTDOORS in JUNE in TEXAS!) and it was H-O-T, but we still had fun. I think once your core body temp finally regulated itself somewhere around 103 and the sweat soaked all the way through your clothes, you were fine. I took around 300 photos and edited out the ones that weren't worth keeping, but I still ended up with nearly 200 that I liked and thought I'd share with you some of my favorites of the happy couple. This last photo was achieved totally by accident. I was fiddling with camera settings, trying to figure out the best way to capture sparklers when they came running through...so I just held up the camera and started shooting. I kind of like the effect though.

We did sparklers for our send-off, but all you see in the video/pics is a huge cloud of smoke. ROFL I'm glad theirs worked better! LOL
Brandi, I was going to post this on your Flickr account. These pictures are absolutely GORGEOUS! Brandi, I'm so deeply impressed with your gift. You captured their emotions and their joy - even those that don't know the couple can see their happiness but especially with the pictures you took! The ones with the groom's head lilted back are especially expressive. If Ryan and I ever renew our vows, will you come take pictures? Please? :-) Thank you for sharing these and all your pictures. They and you are quite inspirational!
WOW! I would have melted in that heat! LOL! great photos. I get a lot like the sparkler one and always get bummed wishing it would have turned out better. I need to get past some of that. I'm hoping to get great Firework photos this year IF we see any but I need a "low light movement" course!
