4 Months

Time sure does seem to pass quickly these days. Kate is officially four months old today. She had her check up with her pediatrician this morning, and she's doing great. She weighs 15 pounds, 9 ounces now and is 25.5" long. She's just 6 ounces shy of gaining 5 whole pounds since birth. Yesterday she finally discovered her feet and has been grabbing at them. They haven't made their way into her mouth yet, but I know it is just a matter of time before that happens. For now she just pulls at her sock. She has finally mastered getting her thumb into her mouth without any other fingers. I think we're going to have a thumb sucker on our hands. She has been using it mostly to soothe herself. I'm anxious to see if it becomes something that she constantly has in her mouth or just an occasional soothing behavior. I prefer the latter.
Today was a gorgeous day. We took advantage and went with a friend to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens to see the butterflies exhibit and walk around. There aren't a lot of flowers blooming yet, but it was still so nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Kate seemed to enjoy herself, but after a little over an hour I was pretty tired from wearing her in her sling. Strollers weren't allowed in the butterfly exhibit. There were some really beautiful species of butterflies flittering around. Most of them were very elusive and didn't want to land long enough for you to take their photo.
