There's one person that Kate is consistently unsure of, her great uncle John. It's not that he's never speaks or smiles at her.
He tries and tries to get her affection. He wants her to reach out for him to hold her. He just wants her to look at him, which usually she won't do.
I don't know what it is. Some kind of internal animal instinct tells her "danger!" and she just won't give in to Uncle John.
Eventually she let down her guard, and cautiously allowed Uncle John to hold her.
She also happily wore his sunglasses.
Keep trying Uncle John. We'll see who gives in first.
