Cherry Pi Pie

Nick has a new found love for cherry pie. He's always very excited to attend Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at his grandmother's because she always makes him a cherry pie. I decided I would make him his own cherry pie this year for Christmas, but it wouldn't be just any cherry pie. It would be a cherry pi pie so it would appeal not only to the tummy but to the math nerd.

I pulled out my number cookie cutters and went to work cutting out the first few numbers of pi. The only ones that would fit was 3.141592. (Pi, for those who don't remember, is the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle. Yes, I had to google that.)
Doesn't it look cool?I baked my pie, and I knew that they numbers would serve their purpose in allowing steam to escape from the filling as it cooked. I wish I had made the decimal point a little bit bigger though. It's difficult to see.I told Nick before he came home that I had made him the most awesome cherry pie ever baked, so the anticipation was high. I think he was well pleased.
