Vacation Day 1:Texas State Aquarium

After leaving Fort Worth this morning at 4:50 am, we headed south to Corpus Christi/Padre Island for a week of surf 'n sun. Well not really surf...but beach time. Kate has never been to the beach, obviously, and Nick and I have not been since we've been married either. (He's not a huge fan of sand, lol.) This in, as a matter of fact, the very first vacation we have taken as a family that did not involve going with or meeting up with some sort of extended family...so it's kind of nice to just be the three of us. Naturally as I type this, completely exhausted and ready to go to bed about an hour ago at 8:30, Kate is running around our hotel room like a crazed banshee and does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Oh joy.
When we got into town around noon today we headed straight to the Texas State Aquarium, since we couldn't check in to our hotel until later in the day. We decided we might as well eat at the food court there, which turned out to be pretty good as far as food courts go, and then we followed Kate around to every exhibit, some of them twice. We pretty much did what I do at the zoo with her: she goes, I follow. Being a Monday meant it wasn't really overly busy, so without a huge crowd she could have a little more freedom.
During the dolphin show we pretty much had the inside aquarium tanks to ourselves because everyone else was watching the dolphins and Kate refused to sit still for that.  I guess I can't blame her, seeing as she had been cooped up in the van all morning.
