Thanksgiving in Mount Pleasant

We decided to head to East Texas this year for Thanksgiving, since we hadn't been down there for a holiday since Kate was barely a year old. Nick took the day off on Wednesday so we could go a little early and we stayed until Friday.

When we arrived Wednesday, Grandma was already busy in the kitchen and put me to work making chocolate pies. Nikki had brought Peyton out so she could play with Kate, so the girls were happy to lick the bowls clean as I was baking. They went back and forth between playing and fighting, as most little cousins do.  Grandma didn't want to cook for us all that night (I don't blame her!) so while I was in town i picked up some pizza.
Thanksgiving morning was busy as preparations began for all those thing you just can't make a day or two in advance. The kitchen was full of helpers and kids running through.  We sat down to eat around 1 pm because if we didn't, my Uncle Jerry was going to starve, so he claimed.
After lunch, I spent a little time taking pictures of my newest baby cousin, Paislee, which is my cousin Lacee's little girl, and Tripp, Nikki's little boy. The kids ran around outside and played a while, and eventually we headed back to the hotel for a little bit to take a much needed nap before going back out to Grandma's to eat again. After eating we all sat around the table and talked and laughed for a while, until it was time to call it a night.
Friday morning we went back out to Grandma's one more time to pick up some pecans and play a little bit longer. Of course we stayed past lunch time so we ate...again...and had more pie...again. It was yummy though.  We finally said our goodbyes and headed home around 2:30.
