Happy Valentine's Day!

Kate woke me up at an unnecessarily early hour this morning because she knew it was Valentine's Day, and she knew that meant there were gifts of some kind in the living room for her. It was sort of like a mini-Christmas morning, in her mind. So we got up and she headed into the kitchen to be surprised by a new chocolate colored teddy bear, a bag of Hershey kisses, a box of chocolate hearts, and a wrapped gift, which Santa had decided at Christmas he didn't really need to give to her because she was getting a little too much so he wrapped it for Valentine's Day instead.
The wrapped present was a new Barbie, and not just any Barbie - one that lights up and sings! Way to go on that gift, Santa...because perhaps when you purchased it you weren't really thinking clearly about how a certain little girl would make Barbie sing over and over and over and over and over ALL DAY LONG.
I told Kate she should name her new teddy bear. She thought for several minutes before looking at me with a satisfied look on her face and announced that her bear would be called Teresa. I don't even know where that comes from, but so far she has stuck with the name. She also had me remove the red heart from Teresa later in the day because she "couldn't give her a very good hug with that heart in the way" so the heart became Teresa's little pillow.
We went by Mom's for a while to deliver their Valentines cards and Kate scored another huge gift bag of chocolate....hearts, lips, a frog, a chocolate bar.... and then when we got back home, we went out for a walk with Daddy because it was a gorgeous day today. The weather was perfect! We made it back to the house after walking a couple of miles. I had put soup in the crock pot this morning, and then after dinner we sat around the table and played Old Maid and Go Fish. It was a pretty perfect day!
