Road Trip Weekend: New Orleans Day 4 - Going Home

One last New Orleans sunrise
Tuesday was a day we mostly spent in the car, but we did manage to get a little more New Orleans time before we had to hit the road to head home. We woke up early and had everything packed because setting out to eat breakfast one last time at The Gumbo Pot. Sure, we could've visited Cafe Du Monde again, but honestly? The Gumbo Pot was far superior, food-wise. I ordered a shrimp, crab, and sausage omelette this time. It was amazing! I could eat that every morning.
We hit up a gift shop next door to Cafe Du Monde and purchased souvenirs for people. Well, we purchased stuff for Kate, and a friend of mine begged me to bring her some Aunt Sally's pralines home, and then we bought some thank you gifts for the family for taking care of Kate while we were gone.

It really was the best day to leave, weather-wise. It was overcast that morning and sort of gloomy. We actually got rained on a little bit for the first hour after leaving New Orleans. We had the most gorgeous weather all weekend, so this was perfect timing.

After a nice little walk back to the hotel to admire the old architecture, it was time to hit the road. We got home in time to have supper ready for us at Yiayia's house and then we headed home, to reality.
