Hasty Generalizations

I'm listening to the radio right now and they are playing all these clips of women who are complaining about men and the way "they all are"....which really irks me. Some of them are complaining because their men don't compliment them enough. Others are complaining because they don't think their men are thoughtful enough. Others are just saying that men in general are hopeless.

I have to say that I completely disagree.

My husband is thoughtful. He compliments me all the time. He is always doing things that go above and beyond. Sometimes I don't know how to react - what do you say when he tells you all the time that you are beautiful/pretty/sexy? I feel like 'thank you' isn't the appropriate response, but what is? It makes me feel great that he always tells me that. I never have to ask how I look in something - he is quick to tell me when he thinks I look great. Sometimes when I try a new outfit he's quick to tell me if he likes it or not and specifically what he doesn't like about it without being hurtful. He's great.

I just hate it when women start men-bashing. I am usually the one who sits there quietly while the others are hatin' and I'm thinking to myself "I must be the luckiest woman alive because none of this applies to me."

Anyway...
Work has been a little bit stressful lately because my lone co-worker is under a great deal of stress in her private life. This means that her patience and tolerance level is LOW. What makes this situation really unbearable is that her patience level on a normal day is almost non-existent, so to say that it's lower right now puts us somewhere in the negative value range.

She gets very annoyed when some one she's working with asks her to do something she doesn't necessarily want to do. She acts as if the whole world is out to get her and make her life difficult. She freaks out at the slightest thing and yells and screams profanities (which I cannot stand) at her computer when it won't do what she wants it to do. I am waiting for the day that she gets so mad at her computer she pushes the monitor into the floor. Seriously. We're talking full blown temper tantrums. 99% of the time, her computer issues are caused by something she didn't do correctly. I have never seen some one with such lackluster computer skills who has worked with computers for so long. I can't tell you how many times I've let her throw her little fit for a few minutes, then got up and quietly walked over to fix whatever wasn't working right, and then sit back down at my desk. It's like dealing with a 5 year old.

She also has opinions on everything and expects you to agree with her opinions all the time. I find myself just saying "mmm-hmmmmm" a lot. Inside my head I'm yelling at her; outside I'm quietly agreeing and trying not to let my annoyance of her to show.

There. I feel better now that I got that out.

I know exactly how you feel with the man-bashers!!! I always feel lucky when they start in!! Sometimes when I'm tired of hearing it I'll tell them how awesome Brian is and that usually shuts them up.

UGH with your co-worker...((hugs)) just keep smiling =o)
