Death by groom's cake

We went to a wedding Friday night for a couple in our congregation. It was a small but sweet ceremony, and we had an enjoyable evening. None of it was quite as fun as trying to figure out the hidden meaning of the groom's cake.

The groom's sister made this cake, and I'm not going to knock anyone's cake making abilities. I've never attempted to sculpt a cake into any shape other than the pan I popped it out of, so I really don't feel right judging the skill level of the cake. That's not the part that was quite so funny though.

Take a look:Tell me this...is she rescuing him? Is he an anchor dragging her down? Did she throw him overboard and is now trying to drag him to his drowning death? While I won't make fun of the cake sculpting, as I stated above, I will take the time to make fun of the pipe cleaner steering wheel. Pipe cleaners! Ha!I'm just not sure that this cake says "wedded bliss". When we decided to ask a relative what the significance of the cake was, the only explanation given is that the groom has a boat....and apparently a death wish.

Gotta love the sense of humor; that's pretty important in a marriage, so their chances of living happily ever after are good! :)
