Last week Painting with a Twist in Grapevine had a special painting night that benefited victims of the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion. Being that I love PWAT and I know people who live in West, I wanted to help out so Mandy and I signed up for the class. We didn't particularly care of the painting that they were doing, but that wasn't really the point so we had fun anyway.
See that woman in the wheelchair? Her name is Beverly and she is Marcia Gay Harden's mother. For real. And see the woman with her hand in the air for no apparent reason? She is Beverly's extremely annoying and over-bearing caretaker who kept taking poor Beverly's paintbrush away and constantly telling her how to do her painting. I felt really bad for her, being stuck with this woman all the time. Anyway, I thought it was kind of cool that we got to meet her, and Nick said it was not cool at all.
I have no clue what I'm going to do with this painting. Maybe I'll hang it in my garage so that it feels fancy. (The garage, not the picture.) Somewhat-ugly painting aside, we helped raise $665 that night, so it was worth it.
