July 4th

We started off our 4th of July with a cookout at Yiayia's house. Bill grilled burgers and hot dogs, Nana made potato salad and both apple and cherry pies, and there were plenty of other sides and ice cream as well. So we ate pretty good, you could say. Bill's dad and stepmom came by as well, and we had a fairly lazy afternoon of talking and hanging out.
At 6:30 the festivities began in Newark at some friend's house. One of the young couples from church always hosts a big 4th of July party and again we had grilled burgers, hot dogs, and ALL the fixings as well as an 8' table of red, white, and blue desserts. July 4th desserts are so much fun. I even got in on the action and made cupcakes and patriotic cherries and strawberries.
After our bellies were full and the sun went down, out came the fireworks. Ben and Amy live in a small community where it's legal to shoot fireworks, so it worked out well because several of the neighbors were also setting them off so we had quite a show all around us.
