Today is Kate's 5th birthday! She's always excited about her birthday (we've been counting down for a while now) but this year she seems extremely excited to be turning 5.
I started her morning off with her first gift, a birthday Barbie, that she got to open before breakfast. She loved the doll but was a little annoyed that I made her wait for the rest of her birthday presents until Daddy was with us so he could see her open them. Part of her gift this year is an overnight stay tomorrow night at Great Wolf Lodge in lieu of spending a bunch of money to have a party at a party place. Daddy even took a day and a half off work for it! (I know how much he loves water parks... ha ha)
We met Yiayia, Nana, Daddy and Bill for lunch at Rosa's. Bill decided that Kate needed a cake on her actual birthday, instead of making her wait all the wait until her family party on Saturday, so they brought a small ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and bought lunch. I went ahead and let her open her other two gifts from Nick and me, and she also got two presents from Yiayia and company. She finally has her Jessie and Buzz Lightyear dolls, although she immediately said "But I wanted Woody too." which she has never mentioned to us before. She's been asking for Buzz and Jessie for a while. I guess we need to consult with Santa! I also have a sneaking suspicion that there will be another present or two from Yiayia on Saturday. They like to spoil their only grandchild.
When we got home, it was time to bake the Frozen cupcakes for her school party tomorrow, and the mailman delivered another present for Kate all the way from Olivia in North Carolina. She was thrilled to get some mail! This afternoon has been spent sneaking licks of icing and attempting to figure out how to navigate her new roller skates.
Tomorrow, pre-school party and Great Wolf Lodge!
