Family Fun Day

Part of Kate's birthday present this year was to have a family fun day rather than a big birthday party. She decided this would be fun, so I happily obliged with that request. The only problem was that we had to wait until the end of the month to have her fun day, because the event that I planned wasn't until the 28th. I had bought tickets for the three of us to see Disney on Ice: Treasure Trove in Allen. Kate was so excited, as this is her third Disney on Ice show and she has loved all of them she has seen so far.

We headed to Frisco first and after lunch at Chili's we shopped in IKEA. Kate loved IKEA and ran around the store the whole time we were there. She had fun playing in all of the pretend kitchens and living rooms that they've set up. She had to explore every closet and bathroom and bedroom in the store. I can imagine that if she was ever locked in there overnight she would be perfectly content to play "house" all night long.
I went to IKEA to buy a new office chair, which I got, but of course since it's IKEA you always end up finding more things that you didn't even know you needed. I also found plenty of things to put on my mental "I NEED THAT!!" list.

We left IKEA and headed on to Allen. The show wasn't until 5 pm, so we had a little time to kill. We ended up in a bakery, where Kate and I each had a hot chocolate and some pastries. Nick had some coffee, and we sat and talked for a little while until Kate couldn't hold in her excitement anymore.

The ice show was great! They did many scenes from several classic Disney films, and of course the fab 4 were there as well: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. We saw scenes from Alice in Wonderland, Lion King, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Tangled, Snow White, Toy Story, and then a huge finale that included all of the princesses and their princes. Kate loved that part, of course.
After the show we ran over to Mooyah for burgers before heading back home for the night. We had a successful family fun day! Happy birthday again, sweet girl!
