First day of FIRST GRADE

It's funny how different the emotions are from the first day of kindergarten to the first day of first grade. It's like, yeah, ok, she's going to school, no biggie. Last year, it was scary and new and sad and anxiety-filled.
She has changed so much since last year. She's looking more like a kid every day, and less like a baby. We even have a legit loose tooth that will be falling out probably by the end of this week.  She's pretty excited about that because she is convinced she is the last kid on earth to lose a tooth.
She chose the flashiest, shiniest, girliest back pack that Target carries for this year, despite the fact that she already owns 4 other perfectly good back packs. Mommy caved and got her the shiny one.
She took a pick with Daddy but not Mommy because Mommy didn't bother getting dressed up for he first day of school. And that's because as soon as we got back to the house and Daddy left for work, Mommy went back to bed for a couple more hours of sleep. No shame.
We walked her up and into the cafeteria, said our goodbyes at her table, and off we went with Boo Kitty. She had to take Boo Kitty with her so that she could see where Kate is all day.
