For this year's first grade field trip, they loaded up all three classes and bussed them down to Mainstay Farms. The kids got to explore the grounds and played all day long.
The first activity was a hay ride through the pasture areas, and it was only for the kids and teachers o the parents had some time to hang out and chat while they were gone. After the hay ride they roasted marshmallows, which is probably a lot more fun when it's not 80* outside.
The got to climb in the hay barn for a while, which Kate didn't want to do at first but then changed her mind and sort of climbed.
I think her favorite part was jumping in the huge air bag (that's the only way to describe it), which she also didn't want to do at first but then talked herself into it and had a blast, as I tried to tell her she would. They had a picnic lunch inside one of the barns as well.
Each kid (and adult!) got to pick out their own little pumpkin to bring home at the end of the day.
The kids were all worn out by the time they left the farm. Kate said she actually fell asleep on the bus on the way back, which is unusual for her. She was tired!
